What is it like to be a student at AISB-Hope international?
We help students thrive in academics and grow as individuals
We teach holistically: intellectually, social-emotionally, physically, and spiritually. We do that through a school-wide culture of learning and growth. We believe excellent teaching encompasses planning, instruction, providing a positive learning environment, assessing with timely feedback, and communicating with families the progress of each child.
Student-learning focused and grace-oriented
We believe that whether a student is with us for one year or fifteen years, students will show growth in the following areas:
Orally, in writing, with technology and other digital tools, in the creative arts, by listening actively, and by learning the host language.
Honoring and Respecting
Each other, and the natural environment, parents, laws of the land, school regulations, peers and spiritual leaders, other cultures, and themselves (by being authentic).
Responsibly Caring and Responding with Care
By taking care of others in the community and in the school, taking care of personal health, learning to serve, admitting error while being corrected, being willing to correct own behavior, being culturally sensitive.
To stand for truth, take initiative, develop personal gifts and potential, reflect, self-assess, demonstrate integrity and academic honesty, develop organizational skills, be resourceful and curious.
Striving for Excellence
By developing mature relationships, working hard and persevering, being well-rounded academically, practicing diligently, cooperating on teams, developing leadership.
Thinking At a Higher Level
Creatively, critically, independently, analytically, and “on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy.”

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”
Flourish as natural artists
Cherish God-given creativity
Be empowered as young musicians
Fall in love with music
The mission of the AISB-Hope International Music Department is to empower young musicians to exude a lifestyle of worship. Music is a vital element of life and a powerful means of communication with our world.
Music is one of the strongest forms of communication. It crosses language, culture, class and emotional barriers as no other form of communication can. We start students using the instrument we all carry, our voice. Beginning in elementary school, our students learn solfege, vocal technique, pitch matching, and the elements of music.
Our students' musical knowledge grows with them, so by the time they are in middle school, they have learned many music fundamentals. Additionally, they have learned about music history and performance techniques, and they have seen performances of large orchestral works, ballets, operas, and musicals.
The AISB-Hope International art curriculum guides the student through an encouraging and positive approach. It begins in elementary school by introducing the following elements of art: colors, shapes, textures, and lines. The journey of learning continues as the student discovers how to make all of these elements come together to create a work of art.
The middle school art curriculum encourages students to discover their talents and interests. While continuing to apply the basic concepts learned in elementary school, the curriculum introduces students to a new concept, the Principles of Design. Students will learn how to take the elements of art and arrange them in a way that makes a work of art pleasing to the viewer’s eye.
In these courses, students learn new terms, methods, and mediums while developing their skills as artists. Classes range from drawing, painting, sculpturing, carving, and mixed-media.

Parents, teachers, & administration on the same team for the benefit of students
Our Student Services department works alongside teachers to provide social-emotional training and support. Topics include safe online practices, appropriate physical touch, friends and conflict resolution, and good study habits. We also work with local mental health care providers for referrals.
Our guidance counselor works with students on transitions, whether that’s into AISB-Hope International from a new school, from elementary into secondary, from middle school to high school, or from high school to university. New students are paired with a “buddy” (peer) to help them acclimate to the new school environment.
Through our Optimal Learning Center:
- We promote overall student-centered education through consultation on explicit teaching and differentiation to address various needs within the classroom.
- We offer support directly in teaching, coaching, and/or consulting with students with mild to moderate disabilities, students who are gifted/talented, and students with dual exceptionalities.
- We offer the initial writing and revisions of learning plans for students that qualify for such documents such as Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and other supporting documents.
- We prepare appropriate accommodations for students that fit their personal learning needs to access the same curricula as their peers and access high stakes exams such as SATs, ACTs, and AP exams.
PASS (Parents Assisting Students and Staff) comprises parents of students who want to play an active role in supporting the school's mission and vision in a voluntary capacity. The PASS committee is appointed by the Headmaster and holds regular meetings as determined by committee members. The PASS committee represents the major language blocks of our school: English, Korean, and Chinese.
To promote communication and cooperation among parents, teachers, and students for the benefit of the student community and to foster a unified family atmosphere at AISB-Hope International.
To help AISB-Hope International students to become responsible, holistic global citizens in their conduct, attitude, character and spirituality, and to empower staff to fulfill their calling and duties.
- PASS actively seeks to provide support services and development opportunities for teachers and students.
- PASS actively seeks to support AISB-Hope International staff to be more effective in the mission of educating and serving our students.
- PASS does not direct the administrative work of the school and is never the final authority over any of its in-school or out-of-school operations.
If you are interested in finding out more and exploring how you can be part of this vital force, please send us an email and we will connect you with the PASS committee.
"My children love this school. They look forward to going to school everyday. Even during holidays they count down to the resumption of school."
~ Helen Ibom, Parent
Holistic growth extends beyond the classroom
We firmly believe that student development happens not only as students participate in engaging classrooms, but also as they extend themselves through sports, arts, and other extracurricular pursuits.
Typical After School Activities:
All ASAs take place at the AISB-Hope International campus from 3:20-4:20PM, with optional busing home provided. After School Activities (ASAs) are offered twice a year for 10-12 weeks each. Fees are determined by each activity coordinator, but many options are offered for only 100 RMB per semester.
AISB-Hope International believes in community and has a wide range of school events throughout the year that foster our community. From our Fall Fair to Graduation, students, staff and parents come together to strengthen our community, raise funds, or to celebrate a season.
Some of our highlights include our annual Christmas Concert, Chinese New Year Fair, Secondary and Elementary Talent Shows, Sports Day and the Spring Concert.
Holding forth truth, inspiring excellence, and sharpening character.
AISB - Hope International Motto
Holding forth Truth
We believe that truth can be discovered. Through our shared values we offer a balanced approach to holistic education, grounded in a grace-oriented worldview.
We develop globally-minded leaders prepared to serve within any sphere of influence they choose to pursue.
Whether a student is with us for one year or from Pre-K to graduation, we focus on developing the inner person of each student through a variety of ways, such as patience, self control, and responsibility.
"The function of education, therefore, is to teach one to think intensively and critically…Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education."
-Martin Luther King, Jr.
Our Personal Growth Philosophy
AISB-Hope International believes in a holistic approach to learning. This includes the shaping of a student’s character. Each month we emphasize a character trait that helps students grow in maturity and be better members of their community.
